Kathy Clampitt has always had the desire to paint. She began taking lessons in the late 1980's
with Louise Yarnell in Bowie, TX. She has continued to hone her craft by studying with Fort Worth,
TX artist, James Spurlock and currently with Melanie Singleton of Bridgeport, TX. Her favorite
medium is oils and she enjoys painting a wide variety of subjects. She has won numerous awards
for her work, most recently, first place in the non-professional division at the 2008 Chicken and
Bread Days Art Competition in Bowie, TX.
Her painting, "Left Behind" was chosen by the WCAA members to go on the cover of their 2009
calendar. She has been a member of the Wise County Art Association, Inc. since 2007.
Kathy was born in Harold, TX and moved to Bowie, TX as a child. She grew up in rural Montague
County and attended the Bowie schools. She currently lives in Park Springs with her husband, Jim.
She has three children and seven grandchildren. When she is not painting, she enjoys working in
her yard.
