Ruth began painting in 2006 when she received a gift of an art starter kit. She paints in an
abstract style in  primarily acrylics and oils. Occasionally she will add sand, salt, paper or
a found object in her work to create a one of a kind painting. She is inspired by cracks in
the sidewalk, oil spills and clouds.  She has won eleven ribbons in regional art competitions
in the past two years.  She continues to paint because she loves it.  She attained an
Associates of Arts degree from Tarrant County Junior College in Hurst, TX and currently
studies art with Melanie Singleton in Bridgeport, TX.

Ruth was born in Oil City, Louisiana and grew up in Vivian, Louisiana.  She moved to Wise
county in 1997 when she and her husband, "Poochie", built a house on the North end of the
Bridgeport Lake.  Her husband passed away in 2003.  Ruth has two children and five
grandchildren.  She is retired from American Airlines.
