Virginia began painting in 2002 after she retired from teaching public school for a total of
twenty-five years. It was a life long wish to be able to paint so she began taking art lesson
with Melanie Singleton in Bridgeport, TX. She works in acrylics and oils with her favorite
subjects being photographs from her travels, grandchildren, subjects from her
grandparents' farm in Chico, TX and photographs from her family's history. She continues
to paint to learn more and more.
Virginia was born and raised in Coleman, TX. She moved to Wise county 16 years ago
from Fort Worth, TX to be close to her widowed mother. She has been married to Don for
49 years and they have three children and six grandchildren. She earned a B.S. in Home
Economics Education in 1960 and a M.S. Early Childhood Education and E.S.L.
Certification in 1990 from Texas Woman's University in Denton, TX.
