Barbara Taylor
Decatur, TX
Barbara began painting at the age of twelve with a box of crumpled up paint left by her father years
before.  After trial and error, she completed her first painting; a boat on a stormy sea.  With that
painting, she knew she would someday become an artist. However, everything came before her
painting. School, marriage, three children, five grand children, and, of course, work were her
priorities.  When her children were in grade school, she joined the Trinity Arts Guild in Hurst, TX and
painted for years and won many ribbons and accolades.

All the jobs she had in her life were art related. She worked for twenty-six years at Michaels MJ
Designs as Assistant Manager.  Her duties were traveling to all the stores in Texas and on the East
Coast setting up the art departments.  She has studied pastel painting with James Spurlock and
watercolor with Bennie Wood.  She is self taught in oil and acrylics.  After retiring in 2006, she has
started painting again and just enrolled in April 2010 in art classes with Melanie Singleton.
