| Melanie Singleton has owned and operated Singleton Art Studio in Bridgeport, TX since 1989 where she paints and teaches art classes to adults and children. Although originally self-taught, Singleton honed her talents by studying with artists Greg Conlin of Dallas, TX, the late Steve Grey of Wichita Falls, TX and Kaye Franklin of Graham, TX. She also studied briefly with David Leffel at the Art Student's League in New York City. She is known for her outstanding portraits rendered in either pastels or oils. Singleton has won numerous awards in regional art competitions including several Best of Show awards. Her work is in many private and public collections throughout the United States including the Wise County Courthouse and the Wise County Historical Museum. She served as president of the Wise County Art Association, Inc. for ten years and currently is treasurer. She was formerly director of Thurburn Gallery in Fort Worth, Tx. She currently serves on the Cultural Arts Board for the city of Bridgeport, TX and is a member of the Off 380 Players theater group. Singleton paints portraits and other subjects by commission.
